The question concerning the nature of aptitude and talent is as old and actual, as school and education are part of public awareness and are discussed in education policy. What is aptitude in general, what is musical aptitude and how can it be recognized? Different historical and scientific disciplines will make an attempt to answer these questions from their specific viewpoints. The book gives an overview for scientists, students and readers who are interested in the phenomenon of aptitude and provides an orientation for parents and educators amongst the variety of theories and empirical findings.
